Beyond Research
Outside of research…
I have been actively involved in several student organizations, both within the chemistry department and beyond. I am enthusiastic about advocating for researchers in STEM fields and committed to raising awareness about the wellness and support needs of student researchers.
For 2026-2027, I am chairing for chemistry student wellness coalition (SWC) at the University of Illinois. It is a student organization that advocates for student organizations in the chemistry department. Our mission is to bring together representatives from all UIUC chemistry department graduate student organizations under one umbrella organization in order to organize and foster healthy working relationships between the various organizations and the faculty/administration. Since communication is the key to improving work efficiency, we organize annual town-hall meetings and climate surveys so students can raise concerns within the department directly to the director of graduate students. Additionally, this year we will host bi-monthly de-stress events designed to support students’ physical, mental, and social well-being. As the chair, I look forward to hearing voices from different perspectives and working to enhance the departmental work environment so it better supports and benefits all researchers.
I believe that…
Science is more than just laboratory research and data analysis. It represents a powerful pathway to exploration and discovery. Engaging actively with our local community has always provided incredible opportunities to connect with other curious minds who share a dedication to knowledge.
